Beim Sinquefield-Cup in St. Louis gelang unserem Spitzenspieler Hans Moke Niemann nach seinem Zweitrundensieg gegen Shakhriyar Mamedyarov nun ein weiterer Husarenstreich. In der dritten Runde besiegte er mit den schwarzen Steinen keinen geringeren als Weltmeister Magnus Carlsen. Dadurch knackte er virtuell auch die Schallmauer von ELO 2700 und grüßt nun mit einem Live-Rating von 2702 von Platz 40 der Weltrangliste.
